Dear Mindful Humans,
Welcome to our first Jenn Joseph newsletter!
We are excited to share our self-care rituals and resources that focus on healing the body and mind. Taking time for ourselves is vital for overall well-being and these practices can help restore balance and cultivate inner harmony.
Cultivate Joy
Reflect on the activities that bring you joy and create more of it. Prioritize activities that bring you joy, whether it's reading a book, taking a long bath, or indulging in a nourishing skincare routine.
If you’re looking for inspiration, we recommend The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking, which delves into the Danish concept of hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”), which promotes coziness, self-care, and creating a warm atmosphere. To jumpstart your journey, our favorite destination to reflect and reset is Miraval Austin Resort & Spa.
Mindful Movement
Embrace Yoga and Meditation. Through gentle movements, focused breathing, and mindfulness, these practices can promote relaxation, reduce stress, and increase self-awareness. Consider incorporating a yoga or meditation routine into your daily life to cultivate a sense of calm and serenity. Consider starting with 5 minutes of meditation each day and watch the power unfold.
The meditation apps, Calm and Headspace can help provide structure to your practice. There are also accessible meditations on Spotify and Youtube. We suggest searching for ”Joe Dispenza” or the “White Light Protection Guided Meditation” by Soul Nourished. Our favorite Kundalini yoga source is TejTV, which streams classes direct from Los Angeles. If you’re looking for a deeper dive, Gaia is our favorite resource for all things spiritual. It provides a wide selection of yoga and meditation videos. It also has videos on topics you won’t find in the mainstream media – the nature of the universe, ancient wisdom, alternative healing, and more.
The Healing Power of Nature
Embrace Outdoor Activities. Spending time in nature can be incredibly therapeutic and rejuvenating. Engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking, walking in a park, or simply basking in the sunlight can improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. Shinrin yoku or forest bathing is another way to connect with the natural world and allow its healing energy to uplift your spirits. Consider leaving your smart devices behind to spend a short time off the grid.
Discover national parks and trails near you with National Park Service. Interested in exploring the science behind nature’s impact, we highly recommend The Nature Fix by Florence Williams.
Journaling for Self-Reflection
Heal and Reflect through Writing. Putting pen to paper can help you gain insight into your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. This practice is a powerful tool for personal growth. Consider starting a journal, whether it's a gratitude journal, a dream journal, or free expression.
Positive Psychology offers resources on journaling exercises and prompts for self-reflection and personal growth. We also recommend The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron for a structured approach to creative self-discovery, including daily journal exercises.
Taking care of your body and mind is a beautiful act of self-love. You deserve it!
With warm wishes for your well-being,
The JennJoseph Team
